    Mid 2010 Graphics Card Update for Mac Pro (Metal/Mojave)

    New Apple OSX update requires Mid 2010 (and other) machines running on newer graphics cards than the Radeon they shipped ATI need to be updated. With. Newer cards will likely require power from both 6-pin slots on the motherboard rather than the single slot required by older cards, meaning this cable will be required to get the new graphics card to work. We took SAPPHIRE PULSE RADEON RX 580 cards, which initially worked (without installing drivers, etc.).

    Close but not the "Y " I wanted

    I bought this adapter to transfer power from my motherboard to a graphics card that has both a 6 pin and has an 8-pin connector. While it gets the job done, this configuration also requires a 6-pin to 6-pin cable, which ultimately requires 3 headers on the motherboard. I would prefer a 6 instead of a 6 and 8 "Y" but haven't been able to find one yet.

    The power cord worked but the connection was finicky

    Thankfully you won't have to change it once it works, but on the first attempts at installation the cord connectors snapped into place but there was no power - because the connection was the metal -to-metal in the connector not actually touched. Pushing and pulling the connector several times solved the problem, but is not necessary.

    The cable was delivered quite quickly. The original delivery time has been changed to deliver 2 days earlier. The cable fits perfectly into the 2 x 6-pin connectors on the Mac Pro motherboard and the 8-pin connector for the RX580.

    configuration with two mini 6 to single 8 connectors and the cable length is perfect for connecting a Mac Pro 4.1 or 5.1 motherboard to the 8 pin power connector. on some graphics cards like the Radeon RX 580.     Give your GPU the performance it deserves

    It works. Used it on Mac Pro 5.1. Original GPU replaced with AMD Radon RX 580. This card requires 185W. On a Mac Pro 5.1, the PCI slot supplies 75W. Each mini 6-pin also supplies 75W. This cable gives me 225 watts instead of 150 watts, which would not be enough. Would and highly recommend this setup on a Mac Pro 5.1. These new maps consume a lot of energy, better safe than sorry.

    They worked in my early 2008 Mac Pro 3.1 to power an AMD rx 590. Unfortunately, I couldn't fix a driver issue with my patched Mojave install, causing me to get a black screen, but it worked fine on the installer screen. ;) If you have an older Mac Pro and want to install a graphics card that requires more performance, this is the solution that suits you.     Outstanding quality and perfect performance

    Almost everyone looking to upgrade their 2010-2012 Mac Pro to be Mojave compatible needs to upgrade their graphics card. For my upgrade, I chose the Radeon RX580 graphics card at the top of Apple's recommendation list. This card draws more power than older cards and requires a cable that can handle the extra power. The upgrade was smooth and this cable fits well and works great.

    Worked on my Mac Pro

    Used one of these cables to power a Radeon RX580 graphics card on my 2009 Mac Pro. Installation was easy and my new graphics card worked like magic. After that I was able to install Mojave on my Mac Pro.
