This is a very sturdy box made from thick plastic. Compartment sizes are 1-1/8" by 1-3/4". You can remove horizontal segments, but not vertical ones. Unfortunately, this makes it significantly less useful to me. In addition, the horizontal segments are available in two widths, which can easily be halved. The two latches are secure but may not last very long with heavy use. It was well packaged and wrapped in plastic but mine has a deep notch on the lid that cost it two stars.
