It may not be necessary, but it's worth it!

I'm sure you can clean condenser coils without this brush, but it's a lot easier with it! The bristles are fairly stiff but not hard enough to damage the coils. You can actually get in and remove any dirt or dust that's blocking the coils. Used in conjunction with a good heat exchanger cleaner, this brush will really clean your air conditioner.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • unreliable

Fits me - brushes

I have a portable air conditioner that you use with a pipe that goes through the window instead of a block so you can use it in any room. The cooling coils are lightly protected by a jacket. I didn't want to disassemble the case, so the brush didn't suit my situation. It worked fine where I could get it there. My dogs love being brushed, especially their faces. That annoys me.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Weak set

Fiction! for cleaning tools

Works great! We live in Florida where it is always humid and air conditioners often collect a lot of dust, pollen, etc. on a metal mesh behind the filter. We tested it by spraying the dust with Lysol and brushing it off when wet and another air conditioner when dry. Works better when dry but leaves a dusty mess that needs to be vacuumed afterwards. Either way, our air conditioners are much cleaner and more efficient. We're buying a few more so each room has its own. I highly recommend them!

Pros
  • Wide range
Cons
  • A few little things

First of all, the machine I used this on was out of order so there was *significant* buildup. That brush alone, as reflected in my photographs, made a very noticeable difference. This is followed by a thorough brushing with a water spray, followed by a condenser coil cleaner. The block looks very different. I spent about $34 instead of the $289 I was offered to "dry clean" the condenser coils. Good luck and always turn off your device before you start work!

Pros
  • Cool
Cons
  • Easy Maintainability

I found the cleaning lid on the tank of heat exchanger cleaner worked much better and not only cleaned the coils but also straightened fins. I tried using this but it caused some damage to the coil fins. It did a really good job of removing the leaves from the bottom of the unit and cleaning up the edges, but I don't think I'll be using it much. from that. I recommend buying a coil cleaner that comes with a cleaning brush built into the cap. works much better!

Pros
  • A few competitors

Pros
  • SAVE MONEY - Clean your devices yourself and save on expensive maintenance costs
Cons
  • Not sure

I found the cleaning cap on the Glas Coil Cleaner worked a lot better, he not only cleaned the coils, but also straightened the slats. I tried using this but it caused some damage to the coil fins. It did a really good job of removing the leaves from the bottom of the unit and cleaning up the edges, but I don't think I'll be using it much. from that. Pros
  • INCREASED EFFICIENCY - Regularly cleaning your device increases efficiency and reduces running costs
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Fabulous! - Household Items

This ribbed comb is the tool I needed to clean the coils on a brand new heat pump. I had a basement renovation and the heat pump was installed before the floor was primed, sanded and installed. Of course, the contractors didn't cover or clean it as part of the job. When I turned the device on, the smell of toxins and other debris that had built up on the coils was killer. It took a very long time to clean the coils (I searched youtube for a guide on how to properly clean a heat pump. Heat pumps

Pros
  • PROFESSIONAL QUALITY - Same tool used by HVAC plumbers and heating installers
Cons
  • Some bugs
