Some problems but they work.

They seem to be working. Pass power through pin 3, which is used for power off in some drives. May not be a problem depending on power supply and hard drives. I had to glue pin 3 on my rims for them to work. The ones with Molex power are probably the wiser buy.

Works as expected - Mini SAS cable

When I received the item one of the cables was quite kinked. All cables seem to work and they work well, just wish the packaging was a little better.

Ideal cable for upgrading internal SATA bays to use SAS with a SAS RAID controller

I have a high drive density (>40 drives) file server consisting of all SATA drives and cables . I recently replaced my SATA drives with SAS and needed a quick and dirty solution to connect the SAS drives to my RAID controller. with one of these $14 cables and replace the entire cable assembly (reducing the cost of the connector to about $3.50). So I went with a replacement cable since it was about half the price. All in all I bought 4 of these and I currently have about 10 drives that work…

Disk "Error " in a year

About a year later I started noticing drive failures. It was a suspicious number of drives that failed at the same time, and they all shared a common cable. In the end, I found that it was this cable that was causing intermittent connectivity issues. I bought a new cable, there were no problems.

Good price for quality cables

I found a good deal on little used SAS hard drives but I needed a mini SFF SAS cable. This device did its job and now I have a lot more room for TV shows!

Works unreliably

Bought two of these to connect 8 drives from an LSI SAS card. They work most of the time, but I get a lot of SCSI and SMART errors. One of the two I bought never worked properly and I replaced it with a competitor's product on Amazon after a month or two. The other one kept giving me drive errors and after a little over a year I replaced it too. My server is now very happy and I can do a lot of file I/Os without disk errors or server crashes.

Will not power SAS drives.

I don't often write reviews but people should be warned about particularly inferior products. Tried to connect a SAS3 drive to an LSI 9211-8i with this cable. Nothing. No power, no device detection. Replaced the LSI controller with an Adaptec RAID controller and encountered the same problem. I connected a SATA drive to both controllers using a different cable and the same power connector I used for this cable and had no problems. Finally tried a SAS drive on a Supermicro server with a SAS2…
