Not bad for the price. Sometimes it's difficult to get the right angle, but when you manage it, it looks really cool. I bought this for my 6 year old son and he loves playing with it and finding rainbows everywhere. This is a great element to keep a child occupied for a while and educated at the same time. I would give it 5 stars but sometimes it's a little frustrating to get the right effects from it. Overall for the price it's not bad but if you want a quality prism it's not!

I wake up on a sunny Saturday morning to a happy squeaking noise. When I enter our living room, I see my children dancing and trying to "catch" the rainbow. This prism was a gift from Santa, hidden in my middle child's stocking. I put it on the south facing windowsill in our living room and every sunny day I get a rainbow. I don't understand why there are negative reviews for this product. Works absolutely perfectly. Maybe ours have Christmas magic, and that's why ours work, but they don't.

I bought this prism for my grandson's 2nd birthday because he always marvels at the rainbow that appears through the beveled glass top on our dining room sideboard when the sun is at its best. I needed a basic prism for a photo experiment but when I came to Revain I found pages of negative reviews about almost all of them. I finally went with it, but now I'm convinced that any of them would have worked well. If you shine a collimated beam of full-spectrum light (sunlight works great!) at this prism, you'll see the scattering of the light at different wavelengths (rainbows).
