I bought this travel mug after enjoying the old version for a few years. Although the inner lid of the new one is easier to clean, I prefer the old version. I also prefer the size of these and find that they stay warm longer than the new version.

The button failed after a few months and wouldn't open the lid seal anymore. Contigo replaced him after sending photos of a faulty travel mug. I disassembled the handle and found that the lever that opened the seals didn't work. It seems this design isn't enough to withstand the stress of opening it multiple times over time. My version 1 of this mug still works and has a much better design.

I was looking for a decent mug that would keep my coffee or hot tea warm for more than an hour. Well I'm still looking. For me, this mug couldn't stand to keep my hot coffee cool after an hour; cool down and it's just indoors. I tried pre-warming my mug with very hot water, but after about an hour the temperature dropped into the cool range, not even remotely warm. For me it was a waste. A few years ago I started buying Contigo coffee mugs with resealable lids because my husband kept soiling the carpet in our cars with spilled coffee. It's definitely leak proof, the design is amazing, but I've reheated my coffee in the microwave before placing it in a mug of simmering water to make it be hotter and last longer . have been using Nissan thermos mug for 15 years. I don't see them anymore so I tried these. Why does a simple thermal mug have to be so confusing? Yes, I understand that it's airtight and holds temperature because it stays closed, but the entire design has a tiny recessed hole 0.3" from your mouth. I love Contigo, a colleague got used to it a few years ago and do not look back. I used to go for 27oz ice water until I found Tekaya which is much better and bigger for the job. I now use the Contigo for hot coffee or drinks so I bought the bronze version with the handle. It's smooth and sharp, love the color. It locks which is a nice feature. Small but holds a decent cup of coffee and keeps it hot for hours. Lids are always easier to clean, which is very helpful. The only minor comment I have
