Shorter version works better, bought these to work with my 55 and 50 gallon tanks; However, it loses effectiveness due to the long handle. A shorter version, similar to an old ice scraper, works better, but you'll get wet and risk soiling the tank with your hands in the water.

Well made and very durable. They fixed a design flaw in the original product to keep the blades from getting stuck in the scraper. I have an aquarium maintenance business so I use them often and they hold up well. The acrylic blade is perfect but the stainless steel blade is a bit brittle but the scraper itself is great.

Do yourself a favor and DO NOT USE on an acrylic tank ACRYLIC WILL ABSOLUTELY DESTROY! I'll just buy melamine foam and find a way to attach it to the end of the rod/blade mount. Nothing works better and safer with acrylic than melamine foam. I don't often leave reviews. I am obliged to inform you in this case. We invest $$$ in our aquariums and want them to be as good as possible.

This plastic scraper quickly cleaned up the algae covered front of my 100 gallon acrylic tank. I let go of it and the Aqueon Magnetic Cleaner couldn't remove it, although it works great if you use it regularly. My seaweed was tough and it took me the strength of a 24" model to apply enough pressure to make it work. The plastic wasn't scratched at all and all the green algae growth came off after about 5 minutes of use. I highly recommend this product for acrylic aquariums only!

This amazing scraper is perfect for scraping stubborn algae off your aquarium walls. The handle is solid so I can squeeze as much as I want and the scraper edge works great.
