One of the main problems with power accessories

I use some wireless Wyze cameras. But there is a huge problem. When the battery runs out, they turn off and on again until the battery runs out. This can turn your device on and off in boot mode hundreds or thousands of times. I don't think devices should keep turning on and off for 2 seconds.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • New competitors have emerged

Ideal for hiding DVR cables

I plugged it in behind the dash to start the dash cam. Since my cigarette lighter is always on, my dashcam never turned off automatically. So I hooked it up to the radio's wiring harness to turn it on and off with the key. Also, no wires are visible this way, ensuring a clean installation. I did this on my 1995 Ford F150.

Pros
  • All set!
Cons
  • Everything is fine

Great for multiple semi-permanent USB devices

I'm just tired of all those separate USB power devices and their adapters in the car. This small module is ideal for installing under the dash in a hidden location and for connecting devices. I just order USB cables with matching ends for all my stuff, now they are plugged in and turn on when I start the car and there are no more plugs and it's all out of sight!

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Almost never

Generates radio interference on GPS frequencies

This 12V to 5V USB converter is used in a custom RTK GPS acquisition system and the system was occasionally able to do the Do not synchronize satellite phase. After several hours of troubleshooting and opening up the spectrum analyzer, it turned out that this converter was giving off high-frequency noise. Shielding the case from 12V to 5V with copper tape solved the problem. Also, the ground on the USB output is not the same as the ground on the 12V input and is floating at about a 200mV…

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Mostly good, but...
