I've ever done what the instructions said but I couldn't connect my VCR to a smart TV that only had HDMI outputs. Even bought a 3' HDMI cable, still nothing. And it's too late to send it back for a refund for both of you.

Worked exactly as described for the first month but seemed to burn out quickly. I cannot provide experience in the warranty process because I did not keep the original packaging. It's possible mine was just an accident, but if you buy it be sure to keep the warranty information.

I had an old DVD/VCR combo and all my kids original Disney VCRs so we couldn't use the new TV when we got it. Someone told me to try this and guess what - if you know what you're looking for, it works GREAT! Connect the VCR/DVD combo jack to this, then to your TV and you're done. My current capture card has an RCA input but it can't handle the lower resolutions that some older consoles display and my monitor doesn't support resolutions that RCA devices output . I use this to zoom to 1080 so my capture card and monitor can display the output for retro live streaming systems. Works when connected directly to the TV's HDMI input. This is useful to know. I originally thought this RCA to HDMI converter wouldn't work, but I connected it to a 5-to-1 HDMI switch with the switch's output connected to one of the TV's HDMI inputs (I wanted to use this switch to control all inputs).
