Quality item and great fit.

Good fit and quality item. I have previously bought another cheaper brand and it broke within a year. This part features an improved seal design and is manufactured to OEM specifications.

Identical to OEM fits replacement parts

Manufactured by Wahler, Identical to the OEM thermostat which it replaced. The check engine light has been fixed and the car now maintains normal temperature while driving (dead spot on the temperature gauge). Easy installation and perfect fit

fits perfectly / works perfectly

As I learned more about BMW parts, I learned not to skimp. I had to replace the water pump, and while disassembling it I replaced that (and a few others). This thermostat works as an OEM (maybe OEM as far as I know). Featured!

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Volume

6 months failed.

The thermostat worked for 6 months, after which it failed. I've noticed the coolant temp go from the usual 96F to over 100F. Upon inspection, the thermostat housing found a leak at the pin. See photo with coolant residue just below the pin. Very disappointed that an OEM part can fail so quickly. Now it will hurt me to replace it again.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Failed 9000 miles

There was a bit of misinformation in the description - this is not a genuine Wahler BMW thermostat, it is an aftermarket Wahler thermostat that you can buy at any auto parts store. Shop for about the same price. The thermostat failed about 9000 km in the open position, which is completely unacceptable. I'm moving to Behr.

Best thermostat for E46

The best thermostat you can get for your E46! I exchanged mine for these because the factory was completely broken. A decent crack had formed in the fuselage, causing it to leak. I had to park my car for a few days but this thermostat does its job and does it well. Maintains the temperature at 96C most of the time unless you are under load and the temperature drops a bit more to keep the engine cool. In my opinion the best thermostat. I also tried the motorcycle thermostat a while back and that

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Trade-in available

Read before you buy this!

At first I was happy to get a Wahler thermostat at a much lower price than a genuine BMW part. It installed and worked great. For 18 months. The thermostat was not faulty (did not stick open and closed). Instead, coolant started leaking out of the plastic seams! I was so thankful that there was a 2 year guarantee so I contacted Revain who told me to contact the seller who basically said it wasn't their problem and contact the manufacturer. or ask Revain for help from the manufacturer. I…
