Read before you buy this!

At first I was happy to get a Wahler thermostat at a much lower price than a genuine BMW part. It installed and worked great. For 18 months. The thermostat was not faulty (did not stick open and closed). Instead, coolant started leaking out of the plastic seams! I was so thankful that there was a 2 year guarantee so I contacted Revain who told me to contact the seller who basically said it wasn't their problem and contact the manufacturer. or ask Revain for help from the manufacturer. I couldn't find contact information for Wahler, so I contacted Revain again. They directed me to an online form on the Borg Warner website for general contact. I submitted the form a week ago, but knew I had to go through it to get a replacement if this was an evasive maneuver, which was going to take longer than I was prepared to be without my car. Instead, I went to AutoZone and bought a Mahle/Behr thermostat for the same price, knowing that if I had a problem with it during the warranty period I could just go back to the store and replace it without a headache. I am disappointed that the Wahler thermostat causes tiny cracks in the plastic. I'm disappointed that the seller didn't do anything to help. If this was purchased from Revain and not a third party then the whole outcome would be different but the seller washes their hands or the transaction after it is complete. I get it, but local parts stores throw out 20% off and $10 coupons like candy, I'd rather be able to deal with them and call for help if a part fails. If you buy this part and dice that it's an isolated case, try to buy it direct from Revain and not a third party. Revain is great at helping you with warranty issues when it comes to YOUR product.
