Working Data storage

Do not use the supplied adhesive tape to stick the adapter to the drive unless it is absolutely necessary, otherwise you will never remove it and can reuse. The friction of the pins holds the adapter in place in most cases. In general, this is the right decision.

Pros
  • Supports 1.5Gbps DMA buses
Cons
  • Upgradeable

Cons

Works reliably as advertised.

Adapter received earlier than expected. Followed the installation instructions. No problem. That's what every buyer expects and deserves, and that's exactly what I got. I just bought another one for another drive that I needed to replace because I made a stupid mistake buying a fanless external HD case because the seller had a good reputation and I thought they didn't cheat their customers . NEVER BUY EXTERNAL DRIVE ENCLOSURE WITHOUT EXHAUST FAN IF YOU WANT TO USE YOUR DRIVES FOR A LONG TIME.

Pros
  • A lot of positive emotions
Cons
  • Reliability

  • Vulgarity

Two of these were used to connect two 500GB SATA hard drives to the PATA/100 controller of an old PowerPC Mac. Both are recognized as 500GB PATA drives. I can boot from them on Mac OS X too. Works well but is slower than a regular PATA hard drive. I haven't done any quantitative speed tests, so I could be wrong. No part of the circuit board protrudes from the top or sides of the drive, even on a low-profile drive, so they should work with most external cases. It comes with a jumper to make it…
