These are not "modern" cotton balls. They're made from raw cotton rolled into a ball (remember those old ceramic rabbits where you put the cotton in and pulled the right amount out of the tail?). and therefore not soft at all. I had trouble getting my toner through them and when I used them they made a "squeaky" noise on my face. I ended up unwrapping them to use some cotton wool. However, they are organic and of very high quality, so some may be looking for them. Just not my "cup of tea".

These cotton balls are very dense! I can split them into 2 parts and get 2 uses in 1! Probably 4 in 1 when used for acetone and polish. I didn't order small cotton balls, I ordered jumbo cotton balls. Description is incorrect. Only buy if you need small cotton balls. The attached image shows the difference between a jumbo and a small cotton ball. The one on the left was from BJ's, the one on the right was from Sky Organics. That's a big size difference.

They are very thick. Roll them out and they feel amazing. Not only because they're morally superior, but also because they're made of better quality cotton than the white "cotton" poufs you can buy at your local grocery store. I mostly use them to tone my face with witch hazel every night and I don't like them rolled up so tight. They rolled off when cleaning the face, preventing them from being used. However, I found a way to circumvent this. I find the end where the cotton was folded and unfold everything, fold it in thirds and it's perfect! In that sense, it's larger and closer to a cotton pad. I think the complaints about it being too small are because it is rolled very tight making it small and hard.
