I recently bought an m9a cooler that was advertised to work with AM4, but it didn't come with a mount for AM4. This adapter works great with the m9a cooler. As can be seen in another reviewer's picture, the bracket and back plate are slightly loose when first installed. When installing the CPU cooler, the bracket is slowly tightened and the backplate is firmly connected to the mainboard. If you have trouble with this, check the instructions and make sure you are using the backplate that cameβ¦
I recently bought a 2700x and the Wraith Prism cooler that came with it was VERY noisy to me. I already had a Cryorig R1 Ultimate from an I5 8400 so I decided to give it a try instead. The included backplate doesn't fit like previous AMD sockets. When I saw this AM4 mount I immediately ordered it and shipped it overnight. It arrived on time BUT it uses a stock AMD backplate and will NOT work. I have an ASUS ROG STRIX X 470-F motherboard and with the included hardware I still have a gap of about
Too bad they don't pack this in their coolers now that AM4 has been out for years. But that's not why I gave 2 stars. This is because it is poorly designed. I love that you can mount the cooler with the plate in any of the 4 directions which is good compared to many others. So that's the only reason it's not 1 star. The reason it's so awful is that if you attach the bolts to a standard AM4 backplate, they don't tighten down on the board. So the whole thing can move 3-4mm until you have a cooler
