Because the ice tray is stored in a styrofoam container, it takes 36-48 hours to freeze. I assume this is because styrofoam is cheap and a more conductive material would increase the cost of production. There are better versions of this concept.

Wonderful product at a good price. You fill the mold and freeze. The ice should have the tips shaved and done, but overall it's a great experience to use. The biggest problem is that it takes a day to freeze and only forms 2, so don't expect to use it for a party or gathering. Especially for an evening whiskey.

I tried another brand first bought from Revain which was cheaper and easier to use BUT they don't have the ice like that cleaned like the manufacturer, my roommate was . We tested side by side for a week and this one performed much better without a doubt. Getting the ice balls is a bit more difficult, but it's worth it. I highly recommend it! It really enhances your iced bourbon experience.

I've used this twice so far and I have 4 clear ice cream scoops that made everyone laugh at a recent meeting. The first time I froze it in our basement freezer for 30 hours and that was the perfect amount of time as the ice was just starting to form under the silicone and I suspect I wouldn't have any competing ice balls. The second time I forgot and it was 48 hours there and the tank underneath was also completely frozen over and it took some time for the hot running water to warm the walls…

I've had this for a few days and now I've made two batches of ice cream - that's four scoops in total. But this thing works pretty much as advertised. The balls are very crunchy and pretty easy to make. But it takes up quite a bit of freezer space (considering you only get two scoops) and the instructions say it takes 24 hours, not 4-6 as the description says. I've left it in the freezer for a full 24 hours each time and it works great. I didn't have much trouble getting it out of the styrofoam
