Great Product: Exterior Accessory

Easy install, looks great. I had to drill 3 holes and everything is like it came from the factory. Fits snugly on the bumper and comes with a pin. Can't beat the price.

Passat towbar: external accessory

The towbar fits very well and looks factory installed, very strong and is a good product. Delivered quickly, the biggest problem was drilling mounting holes. A good product!

works fine but lots of play.

works well but has a lot of play in the square pin connection which makes a loud rattle when the trailer is unloaded and the tongue is reloaded over each bump.

Pros
  • Nice package
Cons
  • Requires socket

I would recommend using "quick grip " style rod clamps to hold the .

Fits my 2004 Passat Wagon. I would recommend using "quick grip" clamps to hold the hitch in place while you mark the locations where holes need to be drilled in the bumper and spare tire well to secure the hitch. The included materials for installing the bumper studs are a great kit too!

was ordered and I received it in a day or two. In theory, installation was easy. Use a tool to cut the lower fascia for example, it came out clean. Difficult to drill holes in the bumper. Removed tips from MAC and Craftsman drills. Maybe it was the corner I was trying to poke through, or maybe I was just drunk. Finally I drilled a hole with a gas cutter. Worked well and quickly, looks very good. I built my own snowboard rack for hitch mounting and have successfully run 1000 miles with no…

Works for me and easy to install.

I bought it for my '99 Passat. It was a direct match. Finding the right size drill bit for the installation was a little tricky, but once I found one, everything was a breeze. I have experience with cars, but I'm not a professional. I was able to install it in about 2 hours. The instructions were simple and easy to follow. I then transported the trailer from Utah to Alabama with no problems. I use it now for a bike rack and it's stable. I would recommend this especially as it is an exact fit.

Great extra feature

I wanted to add some extra utility to my 2002 Passat Van and it was amazing. It arrived quickly, installed in about an hour, and I've towed my 4x8 trailer countless times with no issues. My car is a 1.8t manual and I am very comfortable towing over 1500 pounds with this hitch. Only downside is the 1 1/4" receiver. Many cargo boxes are 2" in diameter and sit quite far from the bumper with an adapter. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to add a little versatility to their vehicle.
