Cheap nibs meet your expectations

These nibs took me hours. I should have known there would be trouble if I squeezed them. There was no satisfying click when inserted into my Switch. Although the cable I made was tested with these ends for gigabit ethernet, I wasn't able to get them working for PoE on my Ubiquiti AP. I was about to give up and start a new series (after two tip exchanges) but I went to Radio Shack and bought a few. crimping. Click. Worked. Those ends really stink. I think you get what you pay for.

The biggest problem I have is the clip that holds the cable securely. The cords created with this clip are CONSTANTLY popping out. I have 6 different devices: Home Receiver, Hub, Apple Airport, etc. and the clips don't fit securely in any of them. Connecting category 5 cables is easy but time consuming. I will buy new clips and…

After a little over a year of use, I have come to the same conclusion as many other reviewers have about these mod plugs, which is that they just aren't very good quality. I redid my home network last winter and have since replaced almost every cable with one of these connectors with a better two-piece design. They just don't snap properly on many standard RJ45 ports, and I've found that they will eventually loosen and lose connection within a few days if not physically held in the correct…
