I like this size for large mixed media embroidery. This hoop thickens the base stock well! It is fully adjustable and fits in my desk frame holder. The film is also of good quality.

It works and it's reliable! The locking mechanism is also easy to use and won't come loose when working on projects. This is a good standard size hoop for most cross stitch projects. Since this is the only 10" frame I have, I don't use it for framing, only for projects. I'm sure you could use it as a frame, but I think there are probably better frame-specific wood-faced tires out there.
