Didn't even last a day. in appetizers

Plastic gear. Broke on the first day. See if you can get a metal gear starter instead. Used this on a Briggs Stratton 17.5hp.

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Many things

Exactly what I was looking for

Got this for my Craftsman 42 inch lawn mower. It starts immediately and starts every time. Did I mention she arrived on time and I didn't have to drive into town!

Pros
  • Pleasing
Cons
  • Frequency

Only lasted 2 months

Lasted great for 2 months and maybe 10 starts then the plastic gear snapped in half. That's very short considering the original plastic gear starter lasted about 28 years.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Empty

Plastic gears for starter and parts

Good starter works great, keep your original metal gear first. This one came with a plastic gear. I twisted it twice, rubbing my teeth. Very easy to swap. To be honest I don't think I paid much for it, I think it was $25 or $30 back then. For the price they are charging now, buy one with a metal gear.

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • Non automatic

Don't throw away the old starter just yet!

The gear on this starter is made of plastic. I don't know why they think the plastic gear can last a while. Mine took less than a second. As soon as I pushed the key to start the engine, the plastic gear came apart. Luckily I was able to remove the metal gear from my old starter and put it on this new starter. Now it works great.

Pros
  • A sea of positive emotions
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Replacement B&S 19hp Engine in John Deere Tractor

The John Deere Yard Tractor engine said it was a 19hp B&S. I wasn't sure if this starter would work, but it looked the same, so I decided to give it a try. It was a perfect fit and only took about 15 minutes to swap out the old starter. The tractor started immediately. We'll have to wait and see how long it lasts, but so far so good.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Useless Features

Lasted exactly one year, ordered another one today

I ordered this starter on 07/16/2018. I am ordering a new one on July 23rd as it broke down over the weekend. IMMEDIATELY AFTER 1 year warranty approx. On July 17th he died. Hoping the company will honor the 1 year warranty as they know it died 1 day after the 1 year mark it was ordered for. It wasn't even used/installed for a full year before it broke.

Pros
  • Robust design
Cons
  • There are nuances

Repair on my 2004 John Deere L120

This replaced a faulty starter motor on my L120 with a Briggs & Stratton series engine 406777-0128-E1 - the number is on the hood in the bar code. The motor is held on with two torx screws that are difficult to remove and install. The left screw isn't that bad, but the right one is actually a little behind the weight of the fly on the starter. You can not put a regular socket on it, because the motor housing interferes - the starter is slightly recessed. If you have a torx set I think you are…

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
