Looks like I bought the wrong one. DecoArt used to sell metallic colors that were almost solid. It was applied by rubbing with a cloth or even with your fingers. You can paint something dark and then rub the metallic paint into the highlights to eventually cover maybe 90% of the surface leaving the pits and crevices dark.
