Good replacement for 02 Lexus IS300

Replaced it on my 02 Lexus IS300 today to replace a cracked and leaking radiator. Everything seemed fine. All the components that bolted from the old block to the new one, namely the coolant temp sensor, I smeared Teflon on it to fix it up a bit, just in case, but I don't think I needed it. All the ribs looked good from delivery and it was well packaged to avoid damage. Happy with the purchase and no problems with it.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Compatible

Temperature sensor hole not like the original

Denso is an original brand radiator for Lexus. BUT the temperature sensor for the fans, which screws into the original heatsink, has an o-ring that seals it when installed. There is no room for an O-ring in a new radiator. The thread on the sensor does not taper, so it is leaking. After many different sealing attempts, I finally wrapped the threads with Teflon tape about 4-5 times and screwed them in. So far so good, but I've never felt so confident improvising with something like this.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • drilled package

Great price with limited guidance.

A beautiful radiator and ALL mounting holes are drilled true to the original. I was able to reuse the coolant supply unit by replacing the o-ring. With the drain valve, the situation was different. The instructions for the radiator do not say anything about replacing it or using a new one. I left a new one and sure enough it was leaking. We tried tightening it to stop the leak, to the point where the end broke off: brand new.

Pros
  • The best in its niche
Cons
  • There are nuances

OEM replacement for Lexus IS300

Revain sent me the wrong radiator (part number 221-3102) the first time, so my car sat on the ramp for a week. When the correct part arrived, I was able to install it with no problems. This is an OEM part for the IS300 and I've had no problems. Be sure to remove the cooling fan switch sensor from the old radiator near the lower radiator hose on the passenger side. I threw away my old heatsink with it and had to order a Beck Arnley 201-1801 Engine Cooling Fan Switch. I blame Revain for sending…

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Leak after a few hundred miles

Installed a heatsink on my 03 IS300. The installation was fine, but I noticed that the radiator started leaking where the plastic meets the aluminum on top. This happened less than 200 km after installation. Doesn't appear to be properly sealed. Definitely defective. It's been over 30 days since I first bought it so I contacted Denso to see if they would put a guarantee on their product rather than trying to go through Revain. They immediately emailed me saying they DO NOT GIVE ANY WARRANTY as…

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Some bugs

Not like OE but close to any aftermarket.

Should work but I'm not sure you can find a better one on the secondary market anyway. just wanted to point out not the same as OE. Which is strange since Denso also makes the original version. But in comparison it's pretty close. But of course not in the same factory. Not the same shape as some things are made of. It appears that the fill tube is slightly different and is located above the radiator housing. I guess for an aftermarket like this they just hired another factory to make a cheaper…

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • Available for replacement

It was a great price. Perfect for my 2002 Lexus IS300

I installed this on my daughter's 2002 Lexus IS300. I was concerned about the comments made by others about the temperature sensor. My regular temperature sensor fit in the hole with no problem. My OEM sensor had an internal o-ring but there was nothing on the mating surface. I removed the rubber gasket from the cap on the radiator and attached it to the temp sensor. I wrapped a can of heavy duty Teflon tape (grey) just in case. I unscrewed it and checked for leaks. No leaks. My radiator fan…
