I even had room on the inner lid to add a slim plastic mixing palette, which I adjusted a bit and then attached magnets to. The lid is still tightly closed. Bought this to store the custom watercolor pencils I add to a set I bought and it's great for both storage and easy use. With two containers, the pens are only one layer deep, making them easy to identify and smart to keep in place. I have a few zip cases with loops that hold pencils and pencils in place, but after using them I found that they could damage the softer nibs of watercolor pencils as they slide in and out of the loops.
