The metal base is cheaply made and deforms immediately out of the box. The threads on the screw caps were either damaged or possibly deburred because I was having trouble unscrewing one of them. I'm sure a good quality light costs four times as much as this one, but I only needed this light in the closet.

Light works like light. Two stars because the rope attached to the chain is completely useless. You might as well not include a row at all. I have installed many traction chain lights with cord. The string is generally much stronger. I can confidently promise that no matter how gentle you are, this tensioning thread will snap in no time.

This was pretty easy to install in our old house. There are no wall switches in the room I installed so this worked like a charm! Just remember to threaten your kids not to mess with the chain. It's very good, but I'm not sure it takes much abuse. I installed it and made sure the chain was the right length so they wouldn't fiddle with it until they were older. Great product, I put LEDs in and it works fantastic.

I'm so glad I finally decided to replace my stupid basement lamp with one that works! -1 star for the screws not long enough for the lid but I managed (there were instructions but a bit tricky). I would suggest checking before installing if you need longer screws, larger wire caps, etc. This makes it easy to turn on the lamp.
