Simple and does the job. Use Loctite!

Excellent quality, very nice appearance and fairly easy to assemble. There are no instructions, but if you're even remotely inclined to crafting, you'll make it. Advice to the wise: use Loctite or it will eventually come loose. The kit does not include lock washers on the main support screw. Also, mine was sticking out about 1.5 inches, so I took a dremel and cut off the main bolt. Easy.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Cheap material but does what it's supposed to.

Got this for my 2006 BMW 330ci convertible with M sport package. Installation was easy but the materials are very cheap and poor quality Don't over tighten the thread tow hook on. I used some plumber's teflon tape on the threads to remove some of the gap in the threads. I used a short extension but it's still too long, might cut it to get a perfect fit.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Really don't like it, everything is fine

Not recommended for X5 2014 (too short), block front sensor or fog lights.

Mount and license plate kept activating my external sensor. He moved the bracket and license plate to the left, but he closed the fog lamp. The handlebars are not long enough to allow space between the bracket/license plate and the front bumper. I had to bend the right corner of my license plate to secure the end of the rod that connects to the license plate. I would not recommend for F15 X5. Looking for a longer pole or extension.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

Just what I needed

I just got into a condition where a front license plate is required. I had no intention of drilling holes in the front bumper of my BMW so I decided to give it a try. As some other reviews note, it sticks out of the car quite a bit but does exactly what it says on the tin and feels extremely durable. I've had it for about 2 months now and I just have to look at it from time to time to make sure the platter isn't spinning at all. Only had to push a little so far, but still better than drillingโ€ฆ

I'm glad others have had a good experience

I'm glad others have had a good experience. Not me. There are no instructions, so I bolted it to the towing eye. Then I tried to attach the plate to the product. It turns out that the bolt is too long when you take out the extra nut (it could be a lock nut, but it looks like they're just extra parts). I tried to tighten the screw in the base plate and it broke off, at the same time the part fell out of the machine - apparently the threads on the part are very, very loose and I really snapped it

Sturdy and gets the job

Sturdy and gets the job. No instructions (at all) telling you how to mount the actual frame onto the shaft. The frame of the plate has jagged cutouts that are difficult to attach with a washer and screw. He deducted a star for that - even with very high tension, the plate with the frame can be turned with little effort. Also, on the e39 M5 (as in the photo), even the shortest stock was too long when using the lock nut. Luckily you can install and tighten without the lock nut to keep the shaftโ€ฆ

Unreliable and lasts for a short time

No instructions are included I mean it's easy to install and I don't like how far it sticks out of the bumper although it is I should have blushed a bit but it arrived quickly **UPDATED** Now October 2019 has only been almost a year. I have to rate it 1 out of 3 stars that I originally had. It doesn't stay in place, I found my plate is vertical after riding over bumps, I took it off, moved it to a different hole position for a better grip and it doesn't work, I had to get a little bubble hammer

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Not as thick as others

FITS "OK " ON BMW 135i

Bought and installed on a BMW 135i convertible which we picked up in Germany with a German license plate on the front. We've recently transitioned from a state that doesn't use front panels to a state that does. Having both legal was a great option. I'm a mechanic and it went "ok" but too far for us due to the long extension that came with the kit. I have another that looked exactly the same for the X3 from another seller, the tow hook main screw should be different. It comes with a long orโ€ฆ

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Vulgarity
