I have purchased 3 DMT stones and a water stone in the last 10 months. 10 chisels and 5 planes. (Equivalent due to rework). I already had a DMT stone and 2 water stones. DMT stones are flatter, quicker to clean, and cleaner than waterstones, but I haven't found them to be significantly faster than N____n waterstones in the actual grinding process. I had to return two of these to Revain as the stones were poor quality. They were cut very roughly so that the surface of the metal beneath the layer of diamonds was not even remotely smooth. I didn't like the idea of my blade poking jags and deep grooves in the stone. Then the second stone I received was much smoother, but the diamond layer was thinned almost to zero on a corner of the stone, sent it back and finally got a good product. Excellent product. Received just an hour ago, sharpened on a pocket knife (440C), no complaints. But again, I've only used it once. I am aware of the product, but in the interest of full disclosure, there is a small butt joint along the right side where there is an area about a millimeter thick with a small non-diamond one.
