The dark fabric is difficult but otherwise a great project

I am making this as a Christmas present for a family member. The dark 18K fabric makes this more sophisticated than it otherwise could be. Seams are basic, but their appearance and compression can be disappointing at times. I actually use a small headlamp (e.g. when camping) so I can see clearly (and with youthful eyesight!). But it's nice and I think it's going well. I like that the thread is pre-sorted and I haven't had any issues with any of the items in the set so far. I'll try to remember…

Pros
  • Hands Free
Cons
  • Very Expensive

Very short black thread, still looks good

I loved cross stitches. This was a bit tricky as it was on a dark fabric, but a lighter colored thread helped. The only problem I had was not having enough black thread. Not a little, VERY little! I ended up buying a few skeins of black DMC floss and used about one and a half to finish the painting. Also, there are many French knots in this cross stitch. There are a lot of them in the bushes and a lot of stars in the sky. I decided not to make stars in the sky. I have trouble with French knots…

Pros
  • Sample for one year
Cons
  • Available in white only

Victorian Charm

This project is simply gorgeous! The fabric is navy blue, so if you're a beginner, you can place a white towel or pillowcase on your lap, or use a strong work lamp to see. So far this project has been amazing. I'm currently working on the cat window because the roof below was the starting point. I've tried attaching a Qsnap to my frame but the fabric isn't wide enough (I have an 11X11 frame). So I use a big hoop instead. There are no problems yet, all the threads are sorted and wound on cards…

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Flimsy
