Dometic 385310683 Spring Cartridge Toilets Review

Thanks to another reviewer who said no need to remove the water valve, I undid two screws, pulled out the old one, put in a new one, replaced the screws, job done. Works like new. And with the old one, it wasn't the plastic parts that broke, but the steel spring! Spring.

This is probably because our toilet is in a tiny bathroom on wheels, too close to the wall, so it is very difficult to install this part. This is the second time we've had to replace it, so this time it was a little easier. Last time it broke trying to install so we had to buy a second one. This is the part you want to replace with the genuine part. The cheaper generic off-white part has a different lever that doesn't seem to work. The photos look close so you might think you can save some money. Order this! You will not regret it. I will be using an off-white spring (I ordered both a generic and a Dometic spring) to replace the spring that broke on the original spring, but it is under a lot of stress so it may take a while. Then I have a good backup.

It's a lot easier than you think. It is useful to sit on the floor opposite the toilet. The valve hoses do not need to be removed. 1) Grasp the back of the pedal. 2) Pull the back of the cover to remove it from the foot pedal. 3) Remove the two black screws from the water valve body and spring block. 4) Note how the broken spring block is oriented in relation to other parts as you pull it out. 5) Assemble with new cartridge and screws in reverse order. There is a difference between black cap and white cap with spring cartridge. Of course, the first set I bought with the ball set was wrong. So I had to buy these separately.
