20 minute replacement incl. 5 minute YouTube tutorial video

The 2000 Yukon Denali I bought 6 years ago always had a wobbly hood and this year it finally broke completely. This replacement fits perfectly, costs less than $10 and as the title says the replacement took about 20 minutes including 5 minute tutorial video. I'm not sure how anyone could give less than 5 stars or why Fakespot reviews are F, but it's a 5 and an A from me.

Almost perfect for parts

My hood release handle broke on my 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Dorman HELP! Dorman makes quality parts and I have used their parts for years and they make parts that are usually hard to come by. My only concern is that the area where the 13mm nut/washer holds this thing was pretty small. I had to make some effort to get the nut/washer in, but it was possible with a few kind words. It is otherwise well designed and looks just as good as the original part.

  • This is amazing

Worked on my 2002 GMC Sierra with minor nut modification

Part is at or near OEM build level. I bought it because I knew it wasn't the "right" part, so it's no surprise that the factory flanged nut had to be replaced to fit. I removed maybe 1mm from the OD and everything was fine. It took about 10 minutes total including the sanding work on the Dremel. No gasket or gable installation issues, and my truck has a picture of the car on the factory handle, so no issues here.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Questionable senior purchase

round 'cover' holding the tow arm came off

Fits perfectly on my 2000 Chevy OLD STYLE pickup truck (looks 1998) BUT the round 'cover' holding the tow handle came off after opening the hood for the second time. (If you look at the picture of the latch, you'll see that the "cap" is the round plastic piece at the top of the handle where it holds the handle with the part that screws onto the carriage and twists.) When it burst, jumped out a feather that flew no one knows where. After opening the hood, I now have to move the handle back.

Fits 2000 Suburban with minor modification.

Although the Revain filter and Dorman filter said it wouldn't fit, it fits my 2000 Suburban 2500 4X4 with only minor modifications. I had to grind the washer off the bearing screw to get it to fit. If it looks like your pen, it will probably match your outfit too. The handle may or may not be durable, time will tell. It appears to be built the same as the one it replaces. The paint on the car with the hood open is sloppy, poor quality, but otherwise the handle looks good. Cosmetics aren't that…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Clarity

I bought this to replace a broken hood release handle on my 2000 Chevy Silverado. It looks basically the same except the OEM part had a slot for the cable to go through. This turned out to be no problem as the cable went through, snapped into the hole with ease and fitted snugly into the handle. I used a #13 socket to remove the anchor nut that the washer attaches to. When I tried to reattach it, I found that the hole for the nut and washer wasn't as big as the one I removed. I had to file the…

No workarounds needed here

These complaints seem to be very popular.1. The fact that it doesn't have a slit on the hole like the original. Well, it's just not necessary. Because the hole is large enough to fit a cable lug, no slot is needed. Simply slide the eyelet and cable and snap the cable sheath connector into the hole. Connect the tab to the handle and you're done.2. That the washer on the OEM factory nut is too wide to fit the plastic case. They say replace the nut or grind down the diameter of the washer. Fur…
