Great fix but better use a new metal based manifold

Great repair but required mounting screws and a tap to cut holes and apply blue Loctite to the threads of the screws to hold them in place in place, no sheet metal screws

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • There are imperfections

Life Saver Best Replacement Parts

Matching Manifold perfect simple easy fix instead of replacing the manifold on my 2000 Chevy Express 3500 Series Vortec 5.7L Van This would be my 4th Manifold again I would be happy to pay a lower price for this bracket instead of a few hundred dollars (poor design by GM)

Pros
  • Nice Packaging
Cons
  • Communicate with Seller

Works well with plates around

Metal strip works as intended and seems better than replacing the low mileage factory distributor with imported junk of questionable reliability. Makes distributor cap replacement difficult and the high price is not a five star product. At least it's below retail prices, which for a thin piece of bent sheet metal with 2 holes is literally blackmail.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • No automatic

When my Yukon was having trouble starting, I .

When my Yukon started having trouble starting, I replaced various electronic components. One problem I found was that the distributor cap is held in place by two screws that were ripped out of the distributor's composite body. I was relieved to find this repair plate - it's cheaper than a whole new manifold and much easier to install.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Fine

Installation wasn't fun but it made things easier

Installation was a challenge. Look at the front torx connector on the plastic manifold, that's where my old 4.3 liter Vortec broke. Instead I used a long screw and it held the lid well. I decided to try this part because my mechanic friend told me about it. I installed this on a 1998 Chevy C1500. So far so good, I just don't want to do it for a while. It goes like 8 months or so.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

A nifty detail for a GM design flaw!

GM has developed a CHEAP junction box that is very sensitive to heat. The narrower the engine compartment, the worse! The shape looks a bit odd, but it's also a factor in the complete failure (breaking off) of the threaded "plastic" mounting tabs. The cap is self-adjusting, but be sure to tighten the screws almost all the way and make sure the cap is seated properly before tightening. hp Even the replacement caps come with instructions on how to fix overheating issues!

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires outlet

Great solution for manifolds with damaged/cleaned bolt holes.

Great product if you don't have the time or money to replace a damaged distributor. My distributor fell off its front prop mount and the distributor cap kept coming off causing my 1997 Chevy Tahoe to skip. I recommend buying a new distributor cap. When tightening the front screw when installing the repair plate, the plastic at the front hole of the old distributor cap cracked and the front screw kept slipping through from not being held. I suspect that the heat from the motor has made the…
