Works great!: Air Conditioner

03 GMC air conditioner fan only worked 5. The previous owner has already bought a cable set but is not sure if it has the correct resistance (has return air). Installed old and new in minutes and everything worked great!

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Fits

Not an exact replacement but a changeable one

NOT "direct block replacement" as advertised. I had to change the mount to install it. The bracket is the back of the original. The wiring is a direct connector, like the OEM. The installation took longer than expected due to necessary adjustments. The part has been reliable in summer heat and winter cold since May 2015.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Everything OK

did not fit my 2006 GMC Sierra as intended

Wrong part, did not fit my 2006 GMC Sierra as intended. The screw holes have been turned off. I just put the screws where they were lined up. I'm not sure where I went wrong, I did a lot of research to make sure I found the right one. Everything worked for me, my fan works fine. I give this seller 5 stars, the delivery was fast, the part fixed my truck.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options

Died after 6 weeks Suitable for climate

My fan slowly lost speed until I only had 5 left. I bought this as the bad reviews were more about suitability than functionality. It fit perfectly in my 2000 Silverado and worked fine for six weeks and this morning I got in my truck and turned on the fan and it came on for a few seconds and then went off, now I have no speed. I was hoping to return it but Revain has a one month return policy. Dorman stuff should have a lifetime warranty, so I guess I'll take it with me. If they're good at itโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Almost everything ok

The reverse form of the design is not suitable.

Not a big fan of bad reviews, especially when half the blame falls on Amazon for saying this part will fit my truck (2002 Chevy 2500HD 4x4 Duramax) when it doesn't. As several other reviews say you have to be careful with this part. While the correct part was manufactured (i.e. both electrical connectors fit correctly and it works once plugged in), the assembly design is actually reversed. This part slides into place and the mounting plate (mounted on the old resistor with a carriage) needs toโ€ฆ

Super easy and quick fix - works great

Perfect fit - for my application - 2001 GMC Yukon XL Many years I worked without fan speed #1 - there were 2 - 5 but not 1 - it wasn't around asking for a deal but...in the summer i like how cold the air con gets but i would like the lowest fan speed. I ordered it in December 2015 and only managed to fit it today (March 14, 2016), although I really have time for 20-30 minutes - the resistor is closest on the passenger side - but actually left in front of the fan - that Hardest part wasโ€ฆ

  • Appearance

Not for 2003 Silverado 2500HD Double Cab 6.0L Gasoline

Modular rear compared to OEM. Mounting to the truck fan itself requires a base plate, the screw holes shown in the picture are just for the small protrusions on the base plate for attachment. Since a ground plane is required and the back of the resistor module itself is a mirror image of the original, it won't fit in the board and there's no real way to attach it to the fan. Tried 3 auto parts shops, apparently someone copied the original design and did it backwards, did it consistently forโ€ฆ

Pros
  • One Year Trial
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other models

Easy to change but don't buy this POS

Plugged in and worked really fast. Well designed, looks like OEM hardware, love it. Update: 7/3/2014 Regularly lost speeds of 1,2,3,4 and a week later also 5. I have a 2002 Chevy Avalanche. Went to dealer, got Delco OEM AC unit with lifetime warranty, problem solved. Don't buy that POS Dorman crap. The device has a resistor block and a high-speed fan setting relay. If you lose 1,2,3 or 4 and still have 5 (high speed) it's a resistance bank, not a motor. If you lose all 5 speeds it could be theโ€ฆ

Perfect fit, replaces GM part number 15305077

My 2002 Chevy Suburban 5.7L flex fuel had a problem with the HVAC blower where there was only air at settings 3.4 and blew 5. After removing the fan resistor, some burned traces remained on the alumina substrate, and the solder mask dry film peeled off in various places. The original OEM design printed resistor tracks onto a white ceramic substrate called aluminum oxide, which conducts and distributes heat fairly well. but it is isolating. Either the fan motor was starting to generate excessive
