Sounds fantastic with upgraded Riverstone Audio tubes, great price

I tested it with my old Cambridge Audio Azur 540p phono stage (no features, around $100) and the DJPREII phono stage (transistor, around 66 $) compared. The DJPREII and Cambridge Audio units sounded fine (and the DJPREII has a nice gain control with a bi-color LED to detect clipping), but this little Douk Audio phono stage sounds fantastic with upgraded Riverstone Audio tubes (I have standard tubes too). tried it and sounded good). Really good separation and detail with a wide soundstage. Veryโ€ฆ

Surprise! It doesn't suck!

So first, let's get the obvious out of the way: This isn't a true tube preamp, it's a hybrid. The blue light emitted by the tubes is an LED built into the bottom of the tubes. As a result, this phono stage is no better than a $20-$30 solid state preamp. he just looks way cooler. While this preamp isn't exactly RIAA compliant, it offers similar performance. Compared to my Rotel phono stage in the A/B test, the only discernible difference I noticed was +1dB difference at the 39dB setting on theโ€ฆ

A superb phono stage and linear preamp in one bottle at a reasonable price.

After using this preamp for a few days I found it to be a great tube preamp at a reasonable price. Usually tube phono stages are expensive because you have to pay extra for the tube sound, but not for this one. I also LOVE how you can change the gain on the fly to get the best sound from your cartridge or even any record during playback. Additionally, you can run your CD player or streamer through this tube preamp with the included audio cable for better tube sound. It also completely changedโ€ฆ

so far so good and tip updated

just hooked this up to my stereo yesterday, hooked it up properly to the phono preamp on my realistic vintage receiver and it sounded absolutely awful, I have a few reviews looked through this preamp and stumbled across a customer who moved their connections to their receiver's aux jack, i did and the sound was perfect, don't know why it works. I'm still blowing the tubes, so I'm hoping the soundstage will continue to improve. Overall I'm very happy with this product, maybe I'll upgrade theโ€ฆ

Good phono stage suitable for home cinema

Although both my player (Audio Technica AT-LP120XUSB) and my receiver (Onkyo TX-NR555) have phono stages, I decided to use an external one Trying tube phono preamps I bought a Douk Audio P1 pre/DAC/headphone amp and was happy with its performance. I'm happy with my decision. Pros: Small size Adjustable gain Good sound Cons: The blue light on the power supply Set up was easy - plug in tubes, plug in player cord, plug in AUX out on my receiver and it was good to go. Great tubes, but better

First, the GE JAN 5654W sounds fantastic with a Riverstone audio systemโ€”a tried and true pair of vacuum tubes. After reading the reviews I immediately ordered it. When I tried the tubes they sounded like the EQ was maxed out and distorted. Once the new lamps were put in, it sounded amazing. The device itself is reliable. The tubes that come with it fit perfectly, the replacement tubes fit just right, but it's worth it. There is no hum or extra noise. The blue LED wasn't as bright with theโ€ฆ
