Article broken after 1 use, no exchange possible

I had this tool in a different version and use it regularly. I needed an extra one and bought this one. After the 1st use it was broken or at the end of round-nose pliers I started replacing it. The seller said it was Revane's replacement business. Revain said they would contact the seller. As a result, nothing was done. I'm glad that junk was only $18. I don't like making losses but be careful with these independent sellers. I do not recommend this seller and this product.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Useless functions

POOR QUALITY/FUNCTIONALITY

Thinking I could save a few bucks and buy an imported instrument, I bought this set. Tricked me! A person has no choice but to buy a quality clamping tool, which means $$$. OTC TOOLS are (were) top notch tools but I think to stay competitive they have to offer cheap junk. They started out selling inexpensive instruments many years ago under the STINGER name. And I got stung. The same instrument (offshore) is sold under different instrument names, only cheaper. IMO just stay away. These things…

Clamping pliers are the best in a set

Some new cars have pinch clamps that are fixed when you press them together. I was hoping they would work, they weren't squeezing the clip hard enough to lock the clip and the locking lever wouldn't work at this point. For the price I decided to try and modify them and see if I can get them to work with the clips we need to remove. After sanding the ends a few times to better fit the clamps I still had no luck. I'll keep working on changing them to see if I can make them work for me. They just…

A must for spring clips

If you've ever ripped through spring clips with regular pliers, you probably hate them. They're always at a weird angle, then they pop out when you try to take them off, and they're always harder to remove than before. However, spring clamps have some key advantages and can be found literally everywhere on some cars. As usual, the right tool is everything. These pliers really changed my attitude towards working with small bugs. They hold the spring clips fairly securely and make…

Malfunctioning Taiwanese tool

They were working on a large snap ring clip, about 2.2 inches, more or less fine. I thought OTC is OWATONNA Tool Co. as in US, but they are labeled TAIWAN. .Like many naval instruments, they look the same but perform poorly due to poor craftsmanship and lack of attention to detail. Metal bends under stress. This caused the 3/8 inner diameter spring ring clamp to repeatedly fly out dangerously. The ratchet teeth are so big that they are almost unusable. On the small clamp mentioned, the final…

Pros
  • Probationary period for one year
Cons
  • No.

This is one of those tools that you get and then wonder how you managed without. Fast clamping work. Convenient time saver! Not as well built as Made in USA Vise-Grip. But these clamps have a very specific function. and they do it well. I wouldn't rely on them to keep you on an I-beam like Vise-Grips. just not that hard. But under a car trying to remove the yoke, I take them every day of the week. Country of origin Taiwan: Taiwanese tools are generally better than tools made in China. Taiwan…

THE TOOL MUST BE MODIFIED TO FIT THE USE.

*** When I first tried the Collar Pliers I wanted to return them to Revain for a refund. The handles are curved which, when fully squeezed, prevents the business end from fully squeezing the clamp. I read another review where the owner cut off half of a handle to allow the tool to cover the extra 1/2 inch needed to remove the clips and engage the ratchet. I went the other way. I drilled out the rivets on one of the handles, turned them over and secured them with nuts and bolts. The handles are…

Mandatory for spring clamps

If you've ever worked your way through spring clamps with regular pliers, you probably hate them. They're always at a weird angle, then they pop out when you try to take them off, and they're always harder to remove than before. Poorly working Taiwanese tool

They worked more or less well with a large snap ring clamp like 2.2". I thought the OTC was OWATONNA Tool Co. like in US, but they are labeled TAIWAN. Like many marine tools, they look the same but perform poorly due to poor workmanship and a lack of attention to detail. Metal bends under stress. This caused the 3/8 ID spring ring clip to repeatedly fly out. The ratchet teeth are so large that they are practically unusable. On the small clamp mentioned, the last position would not lock because…
