Hard mechanical pencil

Works like a normal mechanical pencil. But I see two downsides: it only offers light colors (white, pink, and mid-blue/green), and changing the color requires endless clicking on it to pull out one piece and insert another. The chalk worked great, I would recommend it, but I would also recommend having a piece of tailor's chalk with you if you need a darker colour.

Good product but no leads

I like this pencil and the fine lines it makes, but it was impossible to find refills for it, which basically makes it disposable. I ended up buying a second one to have spares and to leave a different color in each wire (for quick marking when sewing in different fabrics) in the hope that spares would be available by then my runs out. As such, I would recommend doing a quick search to see if refills are available before purchasing this set. Also, be careful not to pull out too much wire at…

Buy a water eraser pen instead!

I thought this pen-like shape would be easy to use and the thickness of the chalk would be strong. I break chalk all the time. If the fabric creases and the pencil cracks, the chalk will break. Push too hard, pull too fast, get stuck in a seam, etc. The chalk breaks and I keep trying to refill and use it. I thought with a thick layer of chalk it wouldn't be a problem, but it's a nightmare. I also had trouble finding gas stations. I've been using a water erasing fabric pen ever since and it's…

Difficult to use and reload lines

A valuable product for drawing a straight line on a pool table felt for practice/training purposes, yet still easy to erase lines. However, it is a difficult product to use. The tip breaks easily during use if you put too much pressure on it or if too much lead is sticking out of the end of the tip, causing you to waste way more lead than necessary. My biggest problem was figuring out how to properly reload the lead. There were no instructions with the product explaining how to do this so I…

The best marking device!

The price might seem a bit high compared to a traditional chalk pen, but it's worth it! I transfer or draw my patterns onto thick card stock or poster board and then trace them onto my fabric. This mechanical chalk pen closes the edges so quickly and accurately that I save time while sewing and get crisp lines. I have a set of chalk cartridges and now it seems so thick and chunky compared to this one lol. If you're a perfectionist this pencil is for you, it takes some getting used to on various

Better than I expected

I use all kinds of fabric marking methods for darts, notches, centers and other things I need to keep the seams where they should be. I make doll clothes for Barbie - they are tiny and I have to mark them carefully. This particular mechanical pencil marker works very well on some fabrics but not all. It comes with three colors of ceramic lead (pink, green, and white), which is nice but a bit awkward at times. If you're used to using a regular office or school mechanical pencil, this one will…

Perfect for marking embroidery placement

Now I'm making 40 small zippered bags that are only 4" x 4" and have an embroidered design on the front. The fabric is dark purple in color and marking the pattern placement is crucial to align it on the backing where the temporary adhesive is applied. Both my wax tailor's chalk and clay chalk made the lines too thick, even after I sharpened them. A white fabric marker I tried failed, and I've never had a wooden tailor's pencil that sharpened and ended up with a point that didn't snap right…
