An essential item for your sewing basket

I love the Dritz Point Turner and I use it for more than just getting my points nice and sharp. This works very well for smoothing out seams on my quilts. I also use it to hold the fabric together by pressing and holding the seams as I sew. Revain has big discounts on sewing supplies and I also go to Revain first when I need sewing and quilting tools.

Pros
  • Excellent workmanship
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Always the perfect glasses!

Where has it been all my life? In the end I broke down and bought this lathe. It always seemed a bit frivolous to me as I had knitting needles, stitch guides and a ton of other sharp objects to use. However, I've never been able to achieve the perfect square dots that I've seen embroidery bloggers do. So I broke down and bought this stupid device and it totally works! I don't have to worry about piercing the fabric. That's great!

Pros
  • Outstanding overall performance

One of the most important things

Sometimes the simplest tool is the best. I think I had this lathe when I started sewing over 30 years ago and it is still an essential part of any sewing kit. It offers me better angles than anything I've tried due to its hard plastic blend, and it's long enough to easily hold in my hand. I've used it to rotate corners in small spaces (1" x 1" squares) and while the image makes it look large, it actually doesn't. It's one of those things like a seam ripper, tape measure, leather thimble, and…

  • Sewing supplies and accessories
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

I'll admit it's not very good looking and cheap, but WOW what a handy tool! I find myself reaching for it quite often to bang on the corners of my pockets etc. However, this is invaluable to the little girl I am teaching to sew. She's only nine years old and she's very small and I still don't like her using a steam iron. I'll end up buying her a mini iron, but so far she's been using it a lot! Gently rub the seams with this before and after you see that you've actually pressed the seams. We…

Use it every day for lots of little things that make life easier.

This is a turning device and straightener for those cases where you can only push something slightly and not iron a small spot. It can be used to simply grab the end of a tie just stuck in the fabric and I've even used it to grab the threads of my serger when I took the thread from the lower looper and removed the tweezers but it came out. It's one of those things you thought you didn't need, but it would be nice if you could find a million uses in a sewing and craft workshop. I've even used it
