Description of Fantom Drives DMR000E - FD Duo Portable 2-Bay SSD RAID Enclosure - 💽 USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C - 10Gbps - RAID0/RAID1/JBOD - Aluminum - Mac/PC/PS4/Xbox Compatible

Fantom Drives Duo Mobile 2.5" 2 Bay SSD RAID enclosure is built with tough aluminum body and allows configurations of RAID0, RAID1, and JBOD. Fantom Drives Duo supports dual bay 2.5" 7mm SATA hard drives and SSD. Duo is a true portable device as it is a hardware RAID and does not need any softwares to use the device. Very good duo case

If you need a duo case for your SSD drive, this is a good choice. The only thing I don't like are the indicator lights that are on the back. It is difficult to position this case where the light is seen to ensure the drives are working. Other than that, this is a great body.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • No performance

The manufacturer even answered my beginner question within a day

Great machine. I wanted to set it up as RAID 1 (RAID 0 by default). And to make sure I set it up in the right order, I contacted the manufacturer. I got a quick reply. The device works exactly as advertised. I am very comfortable. It's so compact! Worked perfectly with my Windows 10 Home configuration. I wanted RAID 1 as a secondary backup of my archived genealogy, which I would store in a firebox. It meets all requirements.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Poor instructions

Doesn't work on blue USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports

Nice little hard drive, ready to use. My Samsung 860 Evo SSDs fit snugly in the slots, and it's all wrapped up in one nice, solid piece of technology. The problem arose when trying to get a computer to recognize the drive. I am using the new Lenovo M920. This drive enclosure will not work with blue USB 3.1 Gen 2 10Gb/s ports. Windows 10 cannot access the drive at all. My other Samsung portable SSDs and optical drives work fine with these ports, but not the Fantom drive. The Fantom drive works…

Working but may have power issues

This is exactly the same item as the Vantec NexStar NST-272S3 except that it has a USB 3.0 C connector for data/power and a DC 3.5mm connector for extra has power supply. Vantec has USB 3.0 Micro B for data/power and USB 3.0 Mini B for auxiliary power only. I decided to "upgrade" to USB-C because I was having trouble with one of my Micro-B connections - it didn't always work. It turned out to be the cable, not the Vantec. Anyway, this box works fine, only the 3.5mm jack is unreliable. If you…

Best compact RAID arrays with two SSD or HDD bays under 9.5mm high!

I bought an empty case with two Micron 5300 Max SSDs. The body is perhaps the most compact. This is a very good portable device. I've had 2-bay cases from other manufacturers, but they're pretty big. You will love this case when you buy it. Another problem is updating the firmware. I don't expect to drive SSDs in this USB enclosure. However, I can use the Micron Storage Executive to verify the firmware in this USB enclosure. I'm not sure if it's the case with new chips or Micron SSDs with a…

Press and HOLD Reset while switching RAID

, I have both this and the StarTech S252BU313R and both have their advantages. Both worked with two 8 TB Samsung SSDs (total 16 TB). The StarTech has an on/off switch and a variable speed fan, but the 10Gb/s USB cable port format is less common, the front backlight is very bright, and the chassis is twice the size of the Fantom. This Fantom doesn't have an on/off switch or fan, but it's thinner, uses a standard USB-C cable, the side lights are easier on the eye, and the optional rubber…

Excellent SSD RAID Enclosure

Here is my review of this amazing device in the first 24 hours of use. This is "FD Duo SSD Portable 2 Bay RAID - USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C - 10Gb/s - RAID0/RAID1/JBOD - Aluminum - Compatible with Mac/PC/PS4/Xbox (DMR2000S) by Fantom Drives" sold by fantom . hard drives. QUALITY UNPACK AND SET UP The incredibly heavy little box was easy to unpack and carefully fold. The box is small and easy to remove for later use. The device itself is heavy (in a good way) and very well housed in an extremely…
