Dyson 916001 08 Motor Assembly DC23 Review

I bought this to replace the motor in my 6 year old DC23 Animal Canister vacuum. The replacement was really quite easy if you are willing to do a bit of disassembly and reassembly, no real electrical knowledge required. After assembly, the vacuum cleaner works like new again! I would also recommend replacing the internal HEPA filter that surrounds the motor whilst at the same time if your unit is 5+ years old mine was quite dirty with charcoal dust from the motor.

The motor has a bad bearing. makes a characteristic noise as it goes through the peak resonant revolutions of the failed bearing as the engine revs up and down. I won't wait until it's completely blocked. I was expecting better quality control. confirmed that nothing was stuck in the hose or making noise when the engine was running with the dust cover removed. the noise comes from the engine. I've been waiting for the motor, installed the motor and now I have to disassemble the vacuum to pull…
