Great for hard-working USB devices

I used this to connect a bluetooth phone adapter to a Chevy HHR and Mercury Sable. I used a fuse tap from the inside fuse box that powers the sunroof to turn the ignition on. They are now turned on and off with the key and are all tucked away nicely in the fuse box cover.

Burns out quickly in starters, chargers and portable power supplies.

I used this to charge my external battery but stopped working after about a week. No other devices were affected, there were no surges or anything like that. Burned out very quickly with normal use.

Doesn't work with inverters

Luckily I tested the device before installing it in the car. Connected to a tested working 12V battery. I checked the USB output and got 5V. However, when I plug in a dashcam, cellphone, or Bluetooth speaker, they don't charge. The DVR has power but makes a strange clicking sound. The charging indicators on the Bluetooth speaker will flash. The phone does nothing. I assume that the amps produced are not durable. Maybe my device is defective.

Easy install, two 5 volt 3a USB sockets should power almost any USB powered device!

My boat radio has an aux input and a USB input, but no bluetooth. So I bought this power converter to power an external bluetooth adapter. It worked great! And as a bonus, I now have a free USB port to charge my phone or tablet. Easy installation, the wires were pretty tinned. I just hooked it up to the 12v input on my marine stereo. I have some awesome ringtones stored in the cloud that I can access from my phone. Thanks to a bluetooth connection I can now play them all through a powerful 6…
