🐠 EHEIM Jager Aquarium Thermostat Heater 100W: Reliable and Efficient Heating for Your Aquarium Review

I've tried the vast majority of aquarium heaters on the market and most of them don't last more than a year or two. Eheim consistently makes great products and does not disappoint. I have had this heater since 2014 (5 years) and it still works perfectly. That's absolutely true, but then again, no aquarium heater has ever been like this. This heater is very reliable and at the same time quite accurate. Also, it doesn't fry fish like many cheap heaters do.

I bought a 100w EJ heater because the temperature could be adjusted. Wrong, the two dials are too small to rotate precisely, and the red dial cannot be rotated. If you can ever get it up to temperature, it will stay at that temperature, but the design sucks. The recalibration instructions will not work if the red dial is not rotated. It was good at first but after less than a year the temperature keeps rising, I have to unplug it so it doesn't cook my fish. Buy something that's easier to set…

The first one I received got so hot over the set temperature that I turned the calibration setting to the maximum and had to adjust two more degrees lower than the actual temp (I set it to 73 but the tank temp was at 75). I thought I would just leave it like that but then after about 3 or 4 days the temp suddenly started dropping to the point where I had to raise it to 77 to keep my tank at 75. Like all other EHIEM products that I have used this thermostat is first class. It feels well built as soon as you pick it up, and the price is right. Even the suction cups work great, no slipping once attached. After the initial calibration, the temperature will remain stable after installation. When delivered, it was bent by about one degree. The heater keeps the temperature in the tank good, but that's not the temperature I'm aiming for. This device is either not powerful enough for the Eheim rating or my device is defective. The temperature is very different - runs much colder than set. The thermostat can be "calibrated" by moving the red needle to match your individual tank's thermometer, but my heater is over 10 degrees from the lower calibration limit. 93F and it still won't get my 28 gallon tank above 78F.
