Would be much better with Power

The hub is great for connected USB and SD cards. Inside there is a slot for a hard drive. I installed a 1TB SSD for small temporary files etc. The problem is this. and in their defense, this can and could be an Apple issue, but when the Mac mini goes to sleep, the drive unmounts and you get a sad face saying you unmounted the drive incorrectly. This happens with every hard drive that you have connected to the hub. I was able to solve this problem by installing a powered USB hub in this hub andโ€ฆ

Perfect hub for Mac mini M1

This item fits my new Mac mini M1 perfectly. The additional 2TB hard drive I bought fit perfectly in the allotted space and the device was easily connected to my Mac with the short cable that came with it. After turning on my computer, the hub came alive and the lights matched those on the Mac perfectly. A simple format disk command completed the setup and you were done. I like that the outer shell looks like it's made by Apple. All connections are located on the front and are easilyโ€ฆ

What a missed opportunity. Save money and expect something REALLY good.

I bought this to complement my new Mini M1, to get some more ports, an SD reader and more hard drive space. Turns out that thing really is a piece of shit. Once I put the SSD in it worked fine but the speed was useless! The whole purpose of this SSD connected to a USB-C port was to have additional storage that would be fast. That wasn't the case, I got write speeds of around 100Mbps and read speeds of 90Mbps, MUCH lower than what the drive can handle. That's not all, the SD card was alsoโ€ฆ

Works as advertised, fully loaded extension with no bluetooth issues

I've been hooking this up to my Mac Mini M1 16GB for a few weeks now. I fully loaded the ports to see if Bluetooth is off, as some reviewers have reported. I don't have any of these problems at all. I have a 1TB drive in the SSD bay and I'm copying back and forth with no problem. I also have a Bluetooth keyboard, mouse, and speakers that don't turn off after the system goes to sleep and wakes up. No Bluetooth issues when flash drives are connected. My M1 runs around 30 degrees Celsius or belowโ€ฆ

One of the best Mac accessories I've ever bought.

If you have a Mac Mini, especially newer ones like the recently released M1, you should get one. Mine is black and sits on a dark trunk with my TV on top. The block almost disappears on the chest. All I can really see clearly are the blue and white LEDs, which are only slightly brighter than the power LED on the Mac. +1 for not having blindingly bright LEDs like so many of my other electronics. The only slight downside is that you have to hold the SD card upside down to insert it so that theโ€ฆ
