Good idea. Works well. The only complaint is that it has a constriction like a regular water bottle so the cage can hold it in place. The neck makes it difficult to store instruments and tubing. As it is not used as a water bottle it can be asymmetrical and have a notch on one side without tapering all the way around making it much more functional which would merit 6 stars.

You can use a water bottle but it is much better designed and doesn't have the narrow neck that many water bottles have. Makes packing and accessing contents a lot easier, and there's a separate inner cup for small parts or things you want to protect and find easily. Much better than a saddle bag because the weight of the bike is lighter and it doesn't increase drag. Previously I used a regular family tool bag that mounts in the triangle (next to the seat tube). I think I rummaged through a bag or two before finally realizing and getting this. Holds a water bottle cage (which is a pretty big minus for long trips) but I was able to get around this by purchasing base water bottle cage mounts. Tires. I've never liked these saddlebags.
