I LOVE this headband! Your phone is open, yes, but as long as you have a screen protector and use a case, you won't have any problems. What I like best is that I no longer have to fiddle with the plastic case that most cases come with, so I can pause my workout or move on to the next song. I bought this headband based on another reviewer who stated that she (like me) is a "thin arm woman" and the headband fits her perfectly. So I bought it and was very pleasantly surprised at how it could be adjusted to fit the tiniest of arms (mine) and fit what I think are big, bulging biceps (I was able to tie it to my calf - and I have bulging calf muscles!).
