Intermittent functionality and reversed ports.

A USB port worked intermittently from the start. Additionally, all of the USB ports and the SD reader were essentially swapped, making placement beneath the Mac mini extremely frustrating, and connecting a retractable USB drive in this configuration was nearly impossible.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • A few minor things

Great Mac Mini Companion

I bought this hoping it wouldn't be junk. So far it exceeds my expectations in quality and performance. The SSD I installed offers excellent read/write speeds and there is a small gap between the Mac and the dock, but for me it only improves airflow. My only complaint is that it doesn't match the color of the new Mac Mini. Once he enters the server rack, he's not even seen, so it's not that big of a deal.

Be frustrated and ready to eat it.

Very disappointed with the product. Originally I didn't need the device but was unable to cancel the order quickly enough as it took weeks to ship. Then he tried to get a refund but the seller expects the buyer to cost more than $100 postage to China. With that being said, I decided to open up/try out the device. Multiple dead/useless ports, or if they work are simply unusable due to extremely slow speeds. Not to mention the Mac keeps throwing up messages about disconnecting the external HD…

Great in concept, frustrating in practice with constant power outages

I've been using this hub for a few days now and I'm disappointed. SSD performance is fine as long as you don't let your Mac Mini (M1 in my case) sleep for a while. Every time I wake my computer from sleep, I get about 10 "disk is disabled" error messages. Putting the computer to NEVER sleep seems to be the only solution.

  • nice thing
Cons

Works fine with my M1 Mini although the colors don't match. Unfortunately I only have two USB-C ports, leaving one - it would be nice if it went through the USB-C port to the front (don't know if that's technically possible, although other hubs seem to do it ) . The biggest issue is that when the M1 goes to sleep, the USB-C power is cut off, causing the drive to go offline, resulting in an alert when I wake up again. I don't know what to do with it since the hub isn't powered.

Junk on computer and accessories

connections were not advertised. Attempts to return. Decreased. The company wanted me to pay shipping in return. He's going to China. More than $100 for a return. So I keep it. The SSD reader is slow. So slow. I grabbed a Crucial drive from my old Akito running the original Thunderbolt platform. (I'm updating from the original 2012 MBP.) The disc was recorded at 325 on Akito. Less than 200 at this POS. This was when I put the item in the box and tried to return it. So now I'm using an old…

Nice and balanced addition to the Mac Mini

The Hagibis USB-C Hub completes my 2020 Mac Mini by adding extra front ports and an internal drive bay. The color could be a bit paler, but nothing noticeable. The package includes two additional squares of double-sided foam tape. I cut both in half and attached them to the bottom of the unit to give it a slightly elevated position to allow for better airflow/cooling while installing the SSD in the internal drive bay. I connected the hub to my Mac Mini using the USB-C cable that came with it…

More ports! - Hard drive accessories

available Update 09/12/2020: I currently have a Samsung evo 1TB SSD in the slot and it works perfectly. For me as a video editor, this extra space is great for my workflow. The speeds are fast and I can edit 4k videos with no lag. I definitely recommend this to all Mac Mini users. I needed additional ports on my Mac Mini and it was slightly cheaper than a Satechi USB C Hub, AND it comes with a SATA 2.5 drive slot (which I have yet to test). At the moment it's only connected to my Mini and seems
