Type of review

It was easy to put the SSD module back in and clip it into this case to get an external hard drive. Transfer speeds are decent, around 100-150MB/s for my 2013 PC and not as fast as the theoretical 500MB/s. The product becomes very hot after 30-45 minutes of data transfer (from/to the PC).

Pros
  • Handy item
Cons
  • Only available in white

The case is good, Windows and Samsung increase the complexity

Neither Windows nor Samsung could find the disk at first. Halfpint's review (above 11/29/2018) got me in the right direction: (a) Need to format the drive from Windows (optional, depending on usage) (b) Samsung tools don't recognize my drive in an enclosure (c ) Use Macrium Reflect to copy sections (d). I had six partitions on the original Dell drive, #3 was the operating system. Copy partitions 1, 2, 3 to the new drive using Macrium. Resize Windows #3 leaving space for partitions. 4,5,6 - Copy

Pros
  • Year of the test period
Cons
  • Something else

It's ok for daily use but not for permanent use/transfer

It's 11/26/19 and I bought it in January (01/2019). The original intention was to serve as an external USB drive for wandering/accidental data dumps, but then I saw myself using it more and more. I started using it as a full "external" drive to host my games from my laptop and use a USB-C connection for faster data transfers. Connection seems to fail after prolonged use due to heat and light touch. Note that this is not capable of ACTIVELY dissipating heat. This only works with passive heat…

Fine - everything works

Works well and stable. Then the question is speed. Which is just awful. See attached tests. This is with a VERY little used Samsung 960 EVO 250GB NVMe drive. I also tested two other drives of a different make/model, but the tests were within error. On the one hand, the positive side is that [FAST] any USB 3.x port you plug it into will give you at least SATA 6Gb/s. /s. On the other hand, it's terribly slow for USB 3.0, let alone 3.1. And oddly, it ran 10x SLOWER when I plugged it into my USB…

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Works perfectly! fits hard drive case

I'm very glad I took the risk as it works great. I used it to clone a smaller SSD to a new Samsung 970 PRO 512GB SSD - NVMe PCIe M.2 2280. I plugged it into my new laptop but it didn't recognize it until I went into disk management and didn't format the drive. There are tutorials on YouTube showing how to do this; It was a very simple process. Since I used the case to make it an external clone drive, Samsung Magician didn't recognize it as a Samsung drive. Instead, I downloaded Macrium Reflect…
