lousy shovel: Houseware

I ordered this shovel, took it out of the box and assembled it with no problems. Unfortunately, the underside of the shovel is curved, so the shovel doesn't sit flush with the ground. It rakes snow from both ends of the blade, leaving a trail of snow down the center where the curve is. Don't waste your money on this, it's a crappy product, poorly made.

Pros
  • Easy to assemble
Cons
  • Expensive

The holes did not line up

I ordered it as a gift two months ago, so it was only opened last week. The gentleman informed me that the holes in the handle didn't line up with the holes on the main shaft/handle so he couldn't screw the handle in. One inch difference between the hole in the handle and where the hole is drilled on the "shank". Very embarrassing. I didn't open the box to inspect it first as it was a gift,

  • Delivery was very fast

Vintage good for cleaning tools

I have other snow shovels but this is my favorite. Clearing heavy snow at 6,000 feet at my age (78) probably shouldn't be done. The shovel is light, with a narrow spoon that doesn't allow me to lift too much snow. The extension handle makes it easy to throw snow over the deck railing. Yesterday a friend came to me to help with a shovel and wanted to know where I got the shovel from. He wants her. What he doesn't know is that I'm giving him one as a thank you.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Makes me nervous

My 54-Inch Ass: Household Items

Remember, being over 6 feet tall, I was enticed by the promise of a 54-inch shovel from Snow Joe Co., whose signature shovel is 49 1/ is 2 tall and just too short for people over 6ft with back pain. I tried to convince the Snow Joe company to make the Snow Joe XL for taller people, but the idea must have hit them like a fart in church. This new shovel, while fairly well made, is NOT the advertised 54 inches, but 48 FORTY-EIGHT! inches long. I've pointed this out to Revain AND the manufacturerโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Sturdy Surface

Much better than a straight or curved handle

After breaking my back in the first snow of the season I decided I needed something better. I used my neighbor's curved-handled shovel, but I still bent down to shovel, so I wouldn't cut. This shovel is definitely the best I've ever used. Being able to use both hands for the full range of motion helps my stamina a lot and I rarely have to bend down. I'm 6ft tall and my boots are 1" so I still have to bend a bit but my 5ft 6" fiancee can keep her back perfectly straight and I think if I was 5ftโ€ฆ

Pros
  • EXTRA HANDLE: Helps reduce back strain
Cons
  • Some minor things

Small rake head and bulky handle

I don't like this rake compared to a regular cheap fertilizer rake. First a metal handle in the middle of winter. Not a very good idea. Second, the head of the rake is too small for a normal-sized horse and not strong enough to withstand the penetration of frozen urine from under the shavings. Third, it's very bulky and borders on degrading ergonomics, especially when the horse stays in the stall. It's very hard to get the leverage to lift a manure pile for a normal sized horse, so you end upโ€ฆ

Pros
  • LIGHT WEIGHT: Sturdy construction weighs less than 6 pounds
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Good Shovel on Push Broom

I've lived in an apartment for the last 10+ years and have never had to dig with a shovel except for our car. So when I moved into the house, I knew I was going to need a good shovel. I REALLY have back pain from merging when I was young so I decided to try something like this. The shovel is great. The only negative is the direction. You just have a picture of a shovel with parts lined up and a picture of bots and plastic nuts. The problem is that the picture doesn't work. It shows a piece with
