Perfect for my 25 gallon aquarium!

I've been looking for a sand that isn't light and is perfectly black for a long time. Most sand is very cheap and difficult to accommodate in an aquarium. This sand turned out to be the perfect sand for me without any problems! Just a word of caution and a note: always wash the sand before adding it to the aquarium and once you add the sand to the aquarium let it sit (without your fish) for a few hours while your filter is running . The sand floats to the top due to the air bubbles it traps…

Not for aquariums with plants for beginners

I'm new to the hobby and I take that into account and my rating is to help beginners avoid my mistakes. Live plants are not required, this is a good substrate option. However, if you REALLY want a planted aquarium, there are a few things to keep in mind: 1. Do not use with plants that need to be rooted in the substrate. This sand (like most sands) compacts under water pressure and does not allow root structures to grip.2. It is very difficult to clean properly as most gravel packs do not…

Nice and functional addition

Very glad I switched from gravel! I've found that my oranda goldfish love sifting and digging in it much more than the gravel that gets momentarily stuck in their mouth and collects waste and food on the bottom. They also reach sinking pellets more easily. This sand looks sharp and is easy to clean with a python. Note: This sand takes about a day to fully set. Don't run the filters until the parts stop floating as they will clog the propellers, especially those hanging off the rear (HOB)…

Looks best in the sand

Good size sand. This is not fine sand as the grains are slightly smaller than coffee grounds. The instructions say you just need to put it in the aquarium and slowly pour water into it and then let it sit. You can't wash it either, but you have to rinse it off. A lot of dust has to be washed out. There is also a dye that comes out even when covered. I stirred it carefully in the bucket, but despite my best efforts, I saw that only a few bits of black had come loose. Care should also be taken…

  • Hands free

  • The list will go on.
