I used this on an old two bladed ax head that I am restoring and it removed most of the rust leaving only deeper holes. Turn this head into a guardian with a grinder and some sanding. What struck me was the effect on the hardened ends of the blades. They both turned darker than the softer center and the finger hole, which was not heat treated. Careful. A good thing. Saved it for later and plan to use it on some old hammer heads and ball stop hammer heads soon.

Treatment: I took an ice bucket, put a lot of rusty but expensive tools in it, filled it with Evapo-Rust, mixed it with my hand to cover it, put the lid on. left for 12 hours. Came back and was shocked that most of the rust was gone (blackened). Blended again and wiped with fingers and/or a rag until black, covered with a lid, left for 12 hours. I bottled Evapo-Rust (SURPRISE - it says reusable!), rinsed them with water, covered them with oil and voila! WOW!

You must clean and degrease the item before immersing it in water, and after a day or overnight, take out the item and wash and clean it thoroughly. Areas of heavy rust may require another try. I've used it to remove rust from several old tools (iron and steel) and it did an amazing job. EvapoRust and wrap it around the rusted area. Then wrap it in cling film to slow evaporation of the chemical. Leave on for 8-12 hours, remove used film and rinse with water. I've seen a lot of mixed reviews on this stuff and I think your mileage may vary depending on what you use/expect it for. That's the end, everything for rust removal ?
