Backup needed... - External SSDs

I'm a fan of belts and suspenders when it comes to many technology applications. As of this writing, the leading wireless service provider in the United States is offering real-time service for most of today. No problem, I had a second cell phone with a competing network that worked great all day. Here's what the family MAC expert thinks: The Fantom Drive GForce 3.1 External Hard Drive is a great portable backup drive. It has a brushed aluminum body that appears to stop bullets and smooth…

Super Fast USB 3.0 Drive

I don't have USB-C on my Mac, only USB 3.0, so I can only test the drive for USB 3.0. Even that is super fast! I copied a 2.7GB video file from a Seagate drive and it took less than a minute. About 34 seconds. The drive came with both cables, so you're in luck if you have a USB-C port. It really does look like one of those cheap electronics you can find anywhere, but if you look closely you'll see an excellent manual. no if you need it The drive is plug-and-play, just plug and play. It's thin…

External SSDs dead on arrival

So I read the reviews for these SSD slates and saw that the only question that was asked/answered was "Will this work with an Xbox ?” and the answer was "YES". So I figured the positive reviews and the fact that someone claimed the device would work for the purpose I wanted it for was enough to order it. So the device arrived, good packaging and no damage to the device itself. I connect it to my computer and think I need to format it to make it work on the Xbox. Well my computer won't let me do

Pros
  • Normal price
Cons
  • Too long to wait

Exceeded expectations

Honestly I didn't think it would work. I even bought a used product to save some money in case it didn't work. But when I plugged this PCI card into my computer to play PC VR with Oculus Quest 2, everything worked fine.

Very fast - generates less heat than expected

We used a 500GB Fantom Drives USB external SSD with a Dell XPS 9570, a 2015 MacBookPro and a Sony phone. I was able to get write speeds of up to 50MB/s with a USB 3.0 MBP port and up to 310MB/s with Dell. Using the Sony phone's USB 2.0 port, I was able to watch an HD video file directly from the drive without lag (I take that for granted when connected via a USB 3.0 port). The drive is remarkable in that I didn't notice any heat development worth mentioning, even during long transfers. My only…

Works perfectly! Quickly. Storage

This external SSD works exactly as advertised. Quickly. Very easy to use. All cables included (thanks!) and no problem. A little more than some, but that's not a problem for my purposes. I was careless and got the Mac version when I really want to use it on Windows. So I had to mount it (no problem) and then delete the Mac partition and create a Windows NTFS partition instead. After figuring out my mistake it was very easy to do and when it was done it worked great. It can be assembled…

  • Great for me
