Before I used these pros, I used professional penknives. I didn't notice much of a difference initially, but after the first shave I noticed I had a small razor cut. Excellent spring loaded razor blades. I have never used straight lines before and started with these bases on my DX. The first few weeks I had cuts, bumps, tears etc. I changed blades after 2 shaves and went down and then up.
