THIS IS A NULL MODEM CABLE

THIS IS A NULL MODEM CABLE Almost all connectors appear to be female. Contacts 2 and 3 are switched. I searched for errors for hours to figure this out as the description doesn't mention it anywhere.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Functionality

Revainrating 4 out of 5

No RTS/CTS connection

Note that (incompetence I assume?) this cable does not connect any RTS or CTS pins! FT232 decodes these signals, they just chose not to connect them. So if your situation calls for these pins (like mine), avoid this cable!

Pros
  • Acceptable
Cons
  • Minor issues

The cable length is great. It works exactly how I want it to

Cord length is great. It works the way I need it. The difficulty for me is that I have to use it with a different cable and I had to do a bit of trial and error to get the TX and RX the way I need them. Whether this or another cord is to blame I don't know.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • too blunt

Not working 921600 baud

I have tested this cable at the maximum speed advertised (921600 baud) and it is not reliable at that speed. The fastest I could get it to work reliably was 460,800 baud. So if maximum speed is important to you, this is not your cable. Speed was important to me because I used it in a PPP application.

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Lots

10 feet of RS232 perfection.

I used this to interact with old lab equipment so we can use it on modern equipment with great success. This thing is a bit finicky with some terminal emulators, but once you run it it will work just fine. I don't know why "transparency" counts as a rating point here, but yes, it's brilliant.

Pros
  • Crossing my fingers
Cons
  • Nothing

couldn't get the printer to work

Easy to connect and install the driver that came with it, but the printer still goes into "unspecified device" instead of "printer and fax" category " appears Cannot print to the device attached to the cable. I searched the internet for a long time but couldn't find a solution to my problem. I wrote to tech support about the chipset, I'm waiting for an answer.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Couldn't get printer to work

Easy connection and installed the included driver but the printer keeps showing up under 'unlisted device' and not in the 'printers and fax category' so on the attached the Cable connected device can not print . . I searched the internet for a long time but couldn't find a solution to my problem. I wrote to tech support about the chipset, I'm waiting for an answer.

  • Cool product

Very happy with the computer cable adapters

I've only been using this product for 2 days but am very happy so far. I am using this device to create an RS232 COM port on a computer running Windows 10. I installed the software before connecting a cable to any port. After the installation, I connected the USB cable to the computer. The device was recognized immediately and assigned to a COM port. I use it as a link between my computer and a ham radio power amp and it works flawlessly. I'm also happy with the 10 foot cable that is shielded…

Pros
  • Excellent design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
