Description of Fiskars Amplify 10 Inch Mixed Media Shears, White - Model 171020-1001

Ideal for long cuts through multiple layers or thick and heavy materials like cardstock, magnet, chipboard, burlap and more. Amplify technology senses blade separation when cutting thick materials and forces the blades back together for crisp, clean cuts every time. Premium-grade stainless steel blades with a precisely honed edge cut cleanly all the way to the tip and stay sharp. Larger handle loops for larger hands, offer ergonomic sculpting to fit the shape and natural movement of the hand and feature Softgrip touchpoints.

Cuts leather

I bought these to cut thick leather for knife sheaths. I'm not sure how thick the leather I'm cutting is, but it's tough saddle leather, about two cents thick. They cut very well against the skin and I chose them after looking at reviews of both more expensive and less expensive brands. I really like them, they cut well, are comfortable and seem to be durable. I haven't tried them on other materials but I believe they can cut anything but metal no matter how thin sheet copper should work.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other picks

Breaking Point for Scissors

I saw someone using these scissors online and while I was skeptical of how much they would actually help, they are amazing. I'm in my late sixties now and cutting anything thicker than carbon paper can be awkward, but these "amplifying" scissors move the pivot so cutting thicker things is very easy. They really are an improvement in scissor design. Don't try to cut PVC pipe with it! But they play a role when ordinary scissors hurt your hand.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Ugly Packaging

The best all-purpose scissors I've found in the Fiskars range

The best utility scissors I have found in the Fiskars range. The blades are relatively sharp and will not fall apart when cutting thicker items (can be sharper). The grip could be bigger to make them more comfortable for bigger hands and I wish they had a 12 inch version. The white doesn't want to stay white forever either, but I still highly recommend it if you need something heavier than your regular household scissors. They differ from the rest of the crowd in that they are less fragile.

  • The best

  • There are more interesting options.

Fiskars Mixed Media Scissors

It does all kinds of mixed media and I had to use a bit more reliable scissors for that. And these things did not disappoint! They (and I, though not often) are very comfortable to use, they cut great, and do it on very thick/heavy paper or media just as well as a single sheet of printer paper. Selling scissors/scissors and doing crafts or just cutting heavy materials, they are probably something for you.

Pros
  • Easy Install
Cons
  • Not bad but...

Sharp but small finger hole

The scissors are sharp and I like that they cut things thicker than usual. It seemed on. It's a good idea to have scissors like this. What my wife and I don't like is that the large finger hole for gripping is on the small side. My wife didn't like the pen. As a man, my hand is larger than my wife's but smaller than many men's. In fact, I had trouble getting a grip on my fingers. I have to believe that some men CANNOT use this product. I have other Fiskar scissors that don't have this grip…

I love these scissors

I collect scissors, there are at least 2 pairs in every room in my house. I have a lot of scissors in my workshop. However, I don't know how I functioned without them. They're expensive, but definitely worth it. I make cards and sometimes when I layer a lot and use foam to add volume to my work and then have to cut the card it can be a challenge to get it straight. I've used my large guillotine paper cutter to do these jobs but still haven't gotten really good results. There's something special

Very good scissors, one of the two best Fiskars scissors!

These are very good scissors and I find them very useful. Everything you've read about them is pretty true, but they're not the best scissors Fiskars makes. This award belongs to the 10 inch Heritage Tailor's Shears. I've bought both and tried both and compared them to many other scissors I've bought in the past. On my own I would have thought that Amplify was the best pair of scissors I had. I have ever bought but the Heritage Tailor's Scissors easily outperformed anything I have ever owned or
